Moses was an Example of Genuine Humility

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White

Moses was an Example of Genuine Humility
Today's Text:
If thou wilt forgive their sin-and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. Exodus 32:32
The Message:

After the children of Israel had listened at Sinai to the giving of the Ten Commandments, they fell into idolatry, and the Lord was angry with them. He said to Moses, "Let me alone ... that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation." But no; the man who had learned to seek after the lost sheep in the wilderness, who had endured cold and storm rather than leave one sheep to perish, could not give up the people placed in his care. He pleaded with God not to give them up, but to forgive their transgression....

Moses declared, "If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence." He no longer had any confidence in himself. His watchword was The God of Israel is my Strength and my Leader. He received no adoration as did the kings of other nations. Repeatedly he told the children of Israel that he was only what the God of Israel had made him. In all the battles in which they obtained the victory, he told them that they were not to claim the honor, for it was the God of Israel who gained the victory in their behalf.

When the Lord told Moses, "My presence shall go with thee," we might think that this mighty man of God would have been satisfied. But he was not. He still urged his petition. "He said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory." Was Moses rebuked for his presumption? ... He [God] took that mighty man of faith, and put him into a cleft in the rock, and there revealed to him His glory....

When Moses returned to the people, they could not look upon his countenance, for he had been talking with God, and his face reflected the glory of God, which had been revealed to him. "The skin of his face shone." When talking with the people, he was obliged to cover his face with a veil.

Not the pompous, boastful, unbelieving person, but the humble, faithful one is mighty in the sight of God. In order that He may answer their prayers, the Lord desires His people to obtain an individual experience. The nearer they come to Jesus Christ, the closer their view of His loveliness and life, the more humble will be their opinion of themselves. The lower their estimate of self, the more distinct will be their views of the glory and majesty of God. When individuals claim that they are sanctified and holy, no clearer evidence is needed to show that they are not holy.-Manuscript 36, 1885.
Commentary:

My friend, "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." (James 4:10).  This is the attitude that all must have if we are to move into a closer and yet closer relationship with God.  Self must be laid aside that the lovely character of Christ may be manifested in our lives.

Pride is the one trait of character that keeps many from truly accepting the Son of God as our Savior, and none can be forgiven of their sins unless pride is laid aside.  For it is only through humbling ourselves before God that we can render true repentance of sin.

The problem with God's end-time church is that it are satisfied with the righteousness that it has.  It has accepted a false god and as such does not have the righteousness of Christ.  The people are blind to their true condition because they believe that they are serving God, but in fact they are serving a triune god that cannot be supported by the Bible.  The trinity teaches that God is made up of three co-equal and eternal beings while the Scriptures tell us that there is only One true God and His Son Jesus Christ. (John 17:3).

The belief in this triune god leads to a false righteousness, and therefore a false experience with God.  It teaches that the Holy Spirit is a being separate from the Father and the Son, and is the one working within the heart of the sinner.  But the Scriptures tell us in 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"  The true Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God manifested through Christ, and that it is Christ that must live within us if we are to be saved.

By accepting the trinity we are in fact accepting into our lives another mediator that is not Christ.  That mediator is Satan himself.  This is why the church is in the condition that it is.  We have accepted in the place of Jesus Christ another mediator, another comforter, a being that is not the Father and not the Son.

My friend, the Scriptures tell us that the Holy Spirit is the omnipresence of the Spirit of God, and that Spirit is manifested in Christ for the Spirit of God is also the Spirit of Christ, for there is only one Spirit, and that Spirit must live within us if we are to be saved.  1 John 5:11, 12 says "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."  He has this life because He received it from His Father that He may give it to us.  "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;" (John 5:26).  The Son of God received everlasting life from the Father, that through Him we may receive everlasting life.

May we all humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord that He may give us all eternal life through His Son today.
God bless,

This is the fifth in a series of videos. The Final protest is dedicated to showing that the foundation for the Ecumenical Movement, the Trinity, is not the true God of the Bible. We invite everyone to come and see for themselves and discover the beautiful truth of a Father and a Son.

The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended Today's Text: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4 The Message:      The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. [Proverbs 11:31] . They "shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts."  Malachi 4:1 . Some are destroyed as in a moment, while others suffer many days. All are punished "according to their deeds." The sins of the righteous having been transferred to Satan, he is made to suffer not only for his own rebellion, but for all the sins that he has caused God's people to commit...

The Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study Today's Text: But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4 The Message:      There is need of a much closer study of the Word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy, but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and the Lord God of heaven ...

Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door Today's Text: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Hebrews 2:9 The Message:      The stress of great temptation is already upon us. We are now to unite with one another in doing medical missionary work, even the work that Christ did when on this earth. We are to be one in Christ. Thus we show our faithfulness to God, to our Redeemer, and to all who are born into His kingdom.  Among the people of God there is to be no dissension, no controversy, no warfare against one another. The forces of righteousness are to be a unit in their conflict with evil. All the strength of God's...
