Jesus Has Power to Save Every Soul

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White

Jesus Has Power to Save Every Soul
Today's Text:
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:7
The Message:

We are not kept by our intelligence, by our words, or by our riches. In these we find no safety. We are kept only by the power of God through faith unto salvation. We are living in a period of time during which we must by faith be allied with an infinite God or else we cannot overcome the strong powers of darkness seeking to destroy us....

Temptations will come. But when Satan throws his hellish shadow before us, we should reach in faith through the shadow to the Light of life-to Him who has not only created us but who by His own blood has redeemed us. We are Christ's cherished heritage. In living faith we must cooperate with Him in working out our own salvation. Amid trials and temptations His hand upholds and sustains us....

Those who hold fast their faith unto the end will come forth from the furnace of trial as fine gold seven times purified.... When in trouble, remember that faith tried in the furnace of affliction is more precious than gold tried with fire....

Do you suppose that after Christ gave His precious life to redeem the beings He created He would fail to give them sufficient power to enable them to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony? He has power to save every individual. At the time of His ascension He said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." For our redemption all power is given to Him who stood at the head of humanity. For nearly six weeks the Sinless One fought a battle with the powers of darkness in the wilderness of temptation, overcoming not on His account, but on our account, thus making it possible for every son and daughter of Adam to overcome through the merit of His sinlessness....

Only those who practice holiness in this life will see the King in His beauty. Put away all vain, trifling talk, and everything of a frivolous and sensational nature. Do not engross your mind with thoughts of worldly entertainments and pleasures. Engage in the work of saving your soul. If you should lose your soul, it would have been better for you never to have been born. But you need not lose your soul. You may use every moment of this God-given life to His name's glory. Strengthen yourself to resist the powers of darkness, that they shall not obtain a victory over you.-Manuscript 110, 1901 (Sermons and Talks, 2:174-176).
Commentary:

My friend, the power that Jesus has to save is for all that would be saved.  Satan has no power to lead us to sin unless we allow him to.  All sin is a choice, and Satan endeavors to bring us into situations where it is difficult to resist his enticements to sin, but if we would but fortify our hearts and minds with the things of God, inviting the Son of God to live in our hearts, we will be given power to overcome all temptation.

The reason why so many in the church have not the victory over sin is because they are looking unto a god that cannot give them power over sin.  They are looking unto the trinity to give them victory while it teaches that the Holy Spirit, which is not the Spirit of God but a being unto itself, dwells within us and enables us to overcome sin.  This being does not know what it is like to contend with sin in the flesh, and has not gained the victory over sin.

The Bible tells us that "God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:" (James 1:13), and as such He sent His Son to become a man that He may be tempted in the flesh and overcome sin in the same way that we may overcome sin, by the power of God living with in us.  This experience of overcoming sin was wrought out only in the life of the Son of God and it is only by Jesus living within us by His Spirit that we may have the power to overcome sin.

The trinity teaches that it is the Holy Spirit that is to live within us, but that the Holy Spirit is a separate being unto itself and as such is not the Spirit of Christ.  The Scriptures tell us in Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."  It is only by the Spirit of Christ living within us that we may overcome sin for the Scriptures say "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:" (Colossians 1:27).

My friend, The Holy Spirit is not the spirit of another like the trinity teaches, but is the Spirit of Christ Himself.  God has given us all the power that we need to overcome sin in this life, and that power is given to us through His Son.  Jesus declares in Matthew 28:18 "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." and that power may be ours if we would but invite Him into our hearts today.

Wont you invite the Spirit of Christ into your heart today?

God bless,

The Jealous God - Allen Stump
The Jealous God - Allen Stump

This presentation reveals that God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is a jealous God. "The close and sacred relation of God to His people is represented under the figure of marriage. Idolatry being spiritual adultery, the displeasure of God against it is fitly called jealousy" (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 306). In this study we see how the Bible reveals that God will not accept false worship.

The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended Today's Text: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4 The Message:      The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. [Proverbs 11:31] . They "shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts."  Malachi 4:1 . Some are destroyed as in a moment, while others suffer many days. All are punished "according to their deeds." The sins of the righteous having been transferred to Satan, he is made to suffer not only for his own rebellion, but for all the sins that he has caused God's people to commit...

The Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study Today's Text: But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4 The Message:      There is need of a much closer study of the Word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy, but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and the Lord God of heaven ...

Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door Today's Text: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Hebrews 2:9 The Message:      The stress of great temptation is already upon us. We are now to unite with one another in doing medical missionary work, even the work that Christ did when on this earth. We are to be one in Christ. Thus we show our faithfulness to God, to our Redeemer, and to all who are born into His kingdom.  Among the people of God there is to be no dissension, no controversy, no warfare against one another. The forces of righteousness are to be a unit in their conflict with evil. All the strength of God's...
