We Do the Work of Satan Sowing Seeds of Doubt and Unbelief |
Today's Text:
Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him. John 6:70, 71

The Message:
Judas was one who exerted a large influence over the disciples. He was of commanding appearance and had excellent qualifications. But these endowments had not been sanctified to God. Judas had opened the chambers of his mind, the door of his heart, to the temptations of Satan. His energies were devoted to self-serving, self-exaltation, and the love of money....
That poor, independent soul, separate from the spirit and life of Christ, had a hard time. He was ever under condemnation, because the lessons of Christ were always cutting him. Yet he did not become transformed and converted into a living branch through connection with the True Vine. Oh, if Judas had only humbled his heart before God under this divine instruction that pointed so plainly to himself in the principles set forth. Then he would no longer have remained a tempter to his brother disciples, sowing the seed of unbelief in their hearts.
Satan sowed in the heart and mind of Judas the seed that he communicated to his brethren. The questioning doubts that were passed from the devil into the mind of Judas, he passed on to the minds of his brethren. He presented so much accusation of his brethren that he was counterworking the lessons of Christ. This is why Jesus called Judas a devil....
There is no such thing as occupying a neutral position. Each will have given to Him his or her work according to his or her ability. And all will, through faith in Christ, have a sense of their privilege in being connected with Him.... The disciple whose religion is a profession only is distinguished from the true....
The hearing of the Word of God is not enough. Unless taught of God, the truth will not be accepted to the saving of the soul. It must be brought into the life practice. The human agent will reveal whether he or she is taught of God. And if not, it is not because God is not willing to teach, but because the person is not willing to receive His teaching and eat of the Bread of Life.
"Every one that doeth evil hateth the light [that God sends], neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved." He or she hates reproof.... The self-righteous will not search for light. They love darkness rather than light, because they do not want to see themselves as God sees them. "But he that doeth truth cometh to the light that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."-Manuscript 67, 1897 (see also The Review and Herald, November 2, 1897).

Commentary:
My friend, each of us has an influence to bear upon others. We are either sowing seeds of light or of darkness; leading others to Christ or Satan. There is no neutral position in the great controversy. How we use our time, talents, and means will determine our destiny. Judas, though he was connected with the Bread of Life, resisted the work of the Spirit of God upon his heart. As he resisted, he opened his mind to the suggestions of Satan, and sowed the seeds of doubt and dissention among the disciples. The light that was being imparted by Jesus was opening the minds of the disciples, but Satan through Judas was counteracting this work.
The same is true today, for there are many leaders and laymen in the church that are playing the role of Judas. Though they are connected with the truths of Scripture, their minds are being worked by the great deceiver, and through them he is dispelling darkness upon the people of God. "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ." (Jude 1:4).
The darkness that is being imparted in the church today is the doctrine of the trinity; the belief that God is a triune God made up of three co-equal, co-eternal beings, when the light of truth says that there is "One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:6). The people of God are blinded by the trinity to their true condition before God, for the Faithful and True Witness of God says "... and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" (Revelation 3:17).
When the light of truth is shed upon the darkness those who love the darkness flee from the light. When Jesus came to dispel the darkness, He was ridiculed and derided. The leaders of the church did all that they could to put out the light of truth in the minds of the people. Eventually they sought to put out the light of truth by crucifying the Son of God. Jesus said "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:19). Today darkness has crept into the church in the form of the trinity, and those who seek to dispel this darkness with the truth of Scripture, are similarly ridiculed, derided, and put out of the church.
The eyes are the window to the soul. If we are looking into the darkness of error, we will be transformed by it. Jesus said in Matthew 6:23, 24 "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!" If we are worshiping the trinity as though it is God, thinking that it is the light of truth, we have accepted darkness for light. "If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"
My friend, if you have accepted the darkness of the trinity as light, you are in great peril, for the trinity is not of God but of Satan. The Scriptures clearly says "... if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." (Isaiah 8:20). The trinity teaches that God is a triune God, while the Scriptures says "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" (1 Timothy 2:5).
May the light of truth be imparted unto you today.
God bless,
