The Son of God was Bruised and Scared in our Place

Today's Text: Who his own self bear our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24

The Message:      Well might all heaven be astonished at the reception their loved Commander received in the world! That a nation claiming to believe prophecy should deny Him, that they should go forward in face of warnings and predictions, close their eyes to light and fulfill the prophecies' every specification, and yet be so blind, so deluded by the enemy of souls that they claimed to be doing God service! And how amazing that a world should reject Him, as did one nation! ...      His hands were pierced with nails, His holy temples were crowned with thorns. He was indeed bruised by Satan, who nerved his agents to do most cruel things.... Our salvation was wrought out by infinite suffering to the Son of God.... The heel of Christ was indeed bruised when His humanity suffered, and grief heavier than that which ever oppressed the [human] beings He had created weighed down His soul as He was engaged in paying the vast debt that sinners owed to God, which they could never pay to redeem themselves from bondage. On Him was laid the transgression and grief of us all....      Can men and women for whom Christ died have any just sense of the sufferings of God's dear Son to bring salvation within their reach, that the sons and daughters of Adam might be brought back again to their Eden home? ...      The conflict was so severe that He was fainting and apparently dying on the field of battle, when angels from the world of light came to the royal Sufferer and ministered unto Him and strengthened Him with food.      Jesus ascended on high from the field of conflict, bearing in His own person His bruises and scars as trophies of His victory, which was to result in annihilating the power of the first rebel, who [before he rebelled] was a chieftain in glory, an exalted angel in heaven. There was rejoicing in heaven, and the proclamation was carried to all worlds that the ruined race was redeemed. The gates of heaven were thrown open to the repentant race who would cease their rebellion and return to their allegiance to the law of God....      The great Head of the church left His work with His delegated servants to carry forward in His name.... Christ's followers are not left to carry on this conflict against Satan in their own finite strength; the Captain of our salvation stands at the head, unseen by human vision. The eye of faith discerns their Captain and obeys His orders.-Manuscript 75, 1886.

Commentary: My friend, the people at the time of Christ's first coming were blinded by their traditions and false beliefs as to the manner and purpose of His coming.  Satan had so perverted their understanding of Scripture that they were not ready to receive their Redeemer.  As it was in the days of Christ's first coming, so too shall it be in the days leading up to His second coming. The remnant church of God is in the same condition as the Jews in the time of Christ.  As the Jews were blinded by their traditions and were looking for a Messiah that was not promised, so too has the Seventh-day Adventist church been blinded by their traditions and have accepted a God different than the One that is revealed in the Scriptures. By the acceptance of the doctrine of the trinity, the church is as surely worshiping a false god as those worshiping idols.  Though they profess to be worshiping God, they are worshiping Him in vain, for Jesus said in Matthew 15:7-9 "Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." Though this may be difficult to accept, we only have to look at the condition of the church of Laodicea to see that this is true.  The church which stared out as the Church of Philadelphia which had no admonitions, has become the Church of Laodicea which had no commendations.  Jesus, who should be in the hearts of His people, is depicted as on the outside striving to gain entrance.  Satan has artfully supplanted the worship of the One true God for the worship of the trinity. My friend the trinity is not the One true God, but is the god of Babylon.  The Roman Catholic Church claims that the trinity is the foundation of all of their doctrines to include Sunday sacredness.  Today the church is not in opposition to Rome because it worships the same god.  Though the SDA church claims that the Godhead is not the same as Rome's trinity, they are essentially the same.  Each worships three beings as one.  They are all God unto themselves, but also God collectively.  See the illustrations below. The Bible says that there is only One true God and that is the Father.  The Son is God in that He came forth from God, but He is not the One true God, but the Son of the One true God.  Jesus said "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3).  The Holy Spirit is not a spirit unto itself, but is the omnipresent Spirit of the Father and the Son, for the Scriptures declare that there is only one Spirit, and Jesus said "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." (John 14:10). My friend, it is time for us to awake from our spiritual slumber and recognize the deception that has been played upon us.  Satan has artfully deceived us into thinking that the Sabbath is what distinguishes us as God's remnant church, when in reality it is the worship of the One true God that distinguishes us.  The prophet Ezekiel wrote "Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them." (Ezekiel 20:12).  The Sabbath, while important, does not sanctify us.  It is the Lord that sanctifies us.  Therefore if we are worshiping the wrong god on the right day, we will be as surly lost as those who worship on Sunday. The first angels message which we see as calling the world back to worship God on the seventh day of the week, is in reality is to call the world back to worship the One true God.  The reason why this message has not had the power spoken of in the Scriptures is because the church calling the world to worship the triune god on the seventh-day of the week, not the One true God. My friend, it is time to awaken from the spiritual stupor that has been breathed upon us by the arch deceiver.  Turn away from the trinity unto the One true God through His Son Jesus Christ today.
