The Disciples Enlightened on Christ's Identity

The Disciples Enlightened on Christ's Identity
Today's Text:
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:27
The Message:

The disciples wondered what this stranger could know that He should penetrate to their very souls and speak with such earnestness, tenderness, sympathy, and with such hopefulness. For the first time since Christ's betrayal in the garden, they began to feel hopeful. Often they looked earnestly at their Companion, and thought that His words were just the words that Christ would have spoken. They were filled with amazement, and their hearts began to throb with expectation, hope, and joy....

There are many who discount Old Testament history. They advocate the idea that the New Testament takes the place of the Old, and that therefore the Old Testament is no longer of any use. But Christ's first work with His disciples was to begin at the Alpha of the Old Testament to prove that He was to come to this world and pass through the experiences that had taken place in His incarnation. The rejection of the Son of God was plainly seen by the prophets....

Christ would have the ideas of His disciples pure and true in every specification. They must understand, as far as possible, in regard to the cup of suffering that was apportioned to Him. He showed them that the awful conflict that they could not yet understand, but that they should understand, was the fulfillment of the covenant made before the foundation of the world was laid. Christ must die as all transgressors of the law will die if they continue in sin. All this should be, but it would not end in defeat but in glorious, eternal victory....

As the disciples were about to enter their house, the Stranger appeared as though He would continue His journey. But the disciples felt drawn to Him.... "Abide with us," they said, "for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent." Christ responded to the invitation without making any excuses. "He went in to tarry with them."

Had the disciples failed on this occasion to press their invitation, they would not have known that their traveling Companion was no other than the risen Lord. Christ never forces His company upon anyone. He interests Himself in those who He knows need Him. But if they pass along, indifferent and careless, never thinking of the heavenly Guest, or asking Him to abide with them, He passes on. Thus many meet with great loss. They do not know Christ any more than did the disciples as He walked and talked with them by the way.-Manuscript 113, 1897.

Commentary:

My friend, as Jesus was walking with the unsuspecting disciples, He began to open before them the prophecies that spoke about His coming, mission, death, and resurrection.  As the disciples heard these words their hearts began to swell with understanding, and as they entreated Christ to tarry with them a bit longer, He revealed Himself to them.  As Christ was taken from their sights, they hastened back to Jerusalem to tell the apostles of their meeting with Jesus.  Their hearts burned with the knowledge of their risen Lord, and how He was so clearly revealed in the Scriptures.

Today the knowledge of who God is has been obscured by the doctrine of the trinity.  It presents God as a three-in-one being where each are individually God, and also collectively God.  While this defies basic logic, it is passed off as a mystery that we are to accept by faith.  While the trinity obscures the Word of God, the doctrine of the One true God makes it plain that there is but One true God which is the Father and He has a Son Jesus Christ, for it says "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." (1 Corinthians 8:6).

The Spirit of God is simply that, His Spirit, not the spirit of another.  The Scriptures declare that the Son of God is simply the only begotten Son of God who was brought forth from the Father and shares the same nature and Spirit of God.  This is revealed in the Scriptures saying "The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.  When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.  Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:" (Proverbs 8:22-25).  Jesus revealed this to the disciples saying "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father." (John 16:28).

The Scriptures are very clear that there is but one true God and He has a Son, and He gave us His Son that we may be redeemed from our sins.  While the trinity teaches that the Son of God is not truly a son because a true son has a beginning, but the Son in order to be God cannot have a beginning.  This contradicts the whole of Scripture and makes God out to be a liar, for He said in Matthew 3:17 "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."  Of this the Scriptures says "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.  Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." (1 John 2:22, 23).

My friend, it is indeed very sad that the church that I love has accepted the trinity in place of the One true God.  By its teachings the whole of the gospel has been destroyed.  On the outside it has the form of God, but in reality destroys God in the minds of His people.  As they look unto the false image of God in the trinity, they are transformed into its likeness.

They believe that it is God, but of this the Faithful and True Witness says "and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" (Revelation 3:17).  They are in this condition because they do not have the righteousness of Christ because He counsels them to buy of Him white raiment that they may be clothed.  If they need the white raiment of Christ it is because they do not have His righteousness but the false righteousness of another.

May you look away from the trinity and unto the One true God through His Son Jesus Christ today.

God bless,

The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. The Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study Today's Text: But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4 The Message:      There is need of a much closer study of the Word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy, but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and the Lord God of heaven ...

Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. Hebrews 2:9 The Message:      The stress of great temptation is already upon us. We are now to unite with one another in doing medical missionary work, even the work that Christ did when on this earth. We are to be one in Christ. Thus we show our faithfulness to God, to our Redeemer, and to all who are born into His kingdom.  Among the people of God there is to be no dissension, no controversy, no warfare against one another. The forces of righteousness are to be a unit in their conflict with evil. All the strength of God's...
