Revelation An Open Book for our Study

Christ Triumphant, A Devotional by E.G. White

Revelation An Open Book for our Study
Today's Text:
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. Revelation 1:3
The Message:

Many have entertained the idea that the book of Revelation is a sealed book, and they will not devote time and study to its mysteries. They say that they are to keep looking to the glories of salvation, and that the mysteries revealed to John on the Isle of Patmos are worthy of less consideration than these.

But God does not so regard this book. He declares: "I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly." [Revelation 22:18-20.].

The book of Revelation opens to the world what has been, what is, and what is to come; it is for our instruction upon whom the ends of the world are come. It should be studied with reverential awe. We are privileged in knowing what is for our learning. But do we treat the Word of God with the reverence which is His due, and with the gratitude which God would be pleased to see? "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." [2 Timothy 3:16, 17.]

The Lord Himself revealed to His servant John the mysteries of the book of Revelation, and He designs that they shall be open to the study of all. In this book are depicted scenes that are now in the past and some of eternal interest that are taking place around us; other of its prophecies will not receive their complete fulfilment until the close of time, when the last great conflict between the powers of darkness and the Prince of heaven will take place.

Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession. Every element of power is about to be set to work. Past history will be repeated, old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will beset God's people on every side. Intensity is taking possession of the human family. It is permeating everything upon the earth. And for what? Games, plays, amusements; people are rushing and crowding and contending for the mastery. That which is common and perishable is absorbing their attention, so that things of eternal interest are scarcely thought of.

Human beings, possessed with energy, zeal, and perseverance, will place all their God-given powers in cooperation with Satan's despotism to make void the law of God. Impostors of every caste and grade will claim to be worthy and true, and there will be a magnifying of the common and impure against the true and the holy. Thus the spurious is accepted, and the true standard of holiness is discarded, as the word of God was discarded by Adam and Eve for the lie of Satan.-Manuscript 143, 1901.
Commentary:

My friend, in the book of Revelation the Lord has revealed to us that which was and is to come.  The persecution that was upon the church in the first century will come upon it in the last days.  The battle against the elect of God will continue until the Son of God comes in the clouds of glory.

The enmity that Satan has against the people of God is manifested in all of his works of evil.  The people that he most especially hates are those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.  To the Seventh-day Adventist church has he focused his great deceptive power to corrupt and overcome.  Through the doctrine of the trinity he has accomplished his work.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church, which was once a pure and undefiled church spoken of in the book of Revelation as the church of Philadelphia, had no fault before God, but now has become the church of Laodicea, a church which has no commendation.  The Faithful and True Witness of God says "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" (Revelation 3:17).  The church has been entrusted with the riches of truth, but have become complacent in their knowledge, and have been corrupted by Satan.

By the adoption of the doctrine of the trinity, the church has forsaken the One true God for the triune god of Babylon.  As such they no longer are led by the Spirit of Christ, but by the spirit of Satan.  The book of Revelation reveals that the church no longer has the righteousness of Christ but the false righteousness of the trinity.  Jesus is depicted as on the outside seeking to gain entrance.  "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" (Revelation 3:20).

The leaders of the church have been corrupted by their love of the trinity, and defend it with all of their might.  Some are deceived, but many are not.  They have the truth that is in the Word of God that plainly reveals to them that the trinity is false, but they choose to ignore and resist the working of God upon their hearts.  Those who oppose the trinity in favor of the Word of God are ridiculed, derided, and chased from the church.  These faithful followers are the true elect of God and will not be overcome, for Christ is their refuge and strength.

My friend, read the book of Revelation, for it is the testimony of Jesus Christ, and He will reveal Himself to you.

God bless,

The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended Today's Text: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4 The Message:      The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. [Proverbs 11:31] . They "shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts."  Malachi 4:1 . Some are destroyed as in a moment, while others suffer many days. All are punished "according to their deeds." The sins of the righteous having been transferred to Satan, he is made to suffer not only for his own rebellion, but for all the sins that he has caused God's people to commit...

The Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study Today's Text: But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4 The Message:      There is need of a much closer study of the Word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy, but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and the Lord God of heaven ...

Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door Today's Text: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Hebrews 2:9 The Message:      The stress of great temptation is already upon us. We are now to unite with one another in doing medical missionary work, even the work that Christ did when on this earth. We are to be one in Christ. Thus we show our faithfulness to God, to our Redeemer, and to all who are born into His kingdom.  Among the people of God there is to be no dissension, no controversy, no warfare against one another. The forces of righteousness are to be a unit in their conflict with evil. All the strength of God's...
