| Take Care In Receiving "New Light" |

The Message:
We are to pray for divine enlightenment, and at the same time we should be careful about receiving everything termed new light. We must beware, lest, under cover of searching for new truth, we allow Satan to divert our minds from Christ and the special truths for this time. I have been shown that it is the device of the enemy to divert minds to some obscure or unimportant point, something that is not fully revealed or is not essential to salvation....
We must let the principles of the third angel's message stand out clear and distinct. The great pillars of our faith will hold all the weight that can be placed upon them.-Manuscript 82, 1894 (The Review and Herald, November 4, 1965).
Our ministers must cease to dwell upon their peculiar ideas, with the feeling, "You must see the point as I do, or you cannot be saved." Away with this egotism! The great work to be done in every case is to win souls to Christ. Men must see Jesus on the cross; they must look and live. It is not your ideas they must feed upon, but it is the flesh and blood of the Son of God. He says, "My flesh is meat indeed." "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." [John 6:55, 63.] The soul that accepts Jesus places himself under the care of the Great Physician, and let men be careful how they come between the patient and the Physician who discerns all the needs of the soul.
There is a time of trouble coming to the people of God, but we are not to keep that constantly before the people, and rein them up to have a time of trouble beforehand. There is to be a shaking among God's people; but this is not the present truth to carry to the churches; it will be the result of refusing the truth presented.
The ministers should not feel that they have some wonderful advanced ideas, and unless all receive these, they will be shaken out, and a people will arise to go forward and upward to the victory. Satan's object is accomplished just as surely when people run ahead of Christ and do the work He has never entrusted to their hands, as when they remain in the Laodicean state, lukewarm, feeling rich and increased with goods, and in need of nothing. The two classes are equally stumbling blocks.
Some zealous ones who are aiming and straining every energy for originality have made a grave mistake in trying to get something startling, wonderful, entrancing, before the people, something that they think others do not comprehend. But often they do not themselves know what they are talking about. They speculate upon God's Word, advancing ideas that are not a whit of help to themselves or to the churches. For the time being, they may excite the imagination; but there is a reaction, and these very ideas become a hindrance. Faith is confounded with fancy, and their views may bias the mind in the wrong direction. Let the plain, simple statements of the Word of God be food for the mind; this speculating upon ideas that are not clearly presented there, is dangerous business.
Some are naturally combative. They do not care whether they harmonize with their brethren or not. They would like to enter into controversy, would like to fight for their particular ideas; but they should lay this aside, for it is not developing the Christian graces. Work with all your power to answer the prayer of Christ, that His disciples may be one as He is one with the Father.-Ibid. (The Review and Herald, November 11, 1965).

Commentary:
My friend, new light from the word of God will never negate past truths, but will be in harmony with it. The light that is in the message of the One true God is not new light but a return to the light that was given to us in the time of our church pioneers. What the church has come to believe in regards to the nature of God is not in harmony with the plain teachings of the word of God. Theological ideas and terms are used to explain this new teaching that are not found in the Scriptures. Terms such as "co-equal" and "co-eternal" are used to describe the relationship between the Father and the Son, but in doing so denigrates them to a role or metaphor.
The idea of the trinity began to take hold within the church in the early 1930's and has since grown in importance in the minds of the congregation and was accepted as a new revelation of God for our time. But this new revelation is not in harmony with the past revelation of God in the Scriptures. The trinity is not revealed or defined in the Old Testament nor in the New Testament. The Jews did not believe or teach it, and Jesus who is the fullness of the Godhead in the flesh, did not teach it, nor did any of the Apostles. Yet it has been received as new light for our time.
The prophet of God, Ellen White, was not trinitarian and denounced the book "The Living Temple" as false light. The author, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, had come to believe in the trinity sought to revise his book with his new found belief, but God had shown her that the author had not changed and that his mind was worked by the arch deceiver. Of this she called the Alpha of deadly heresies, and that the Omega would follow.
The trinity is the Omega for it is the fruit of the Alpha. The church has presented the trinity as new light about the nature of God, but in reality it is simply old error. The trinity is the foundational teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, and as such is the god of Babylon. While the SDA church claims that our trinity is different from their trinity, it is essentially the same, three in one.
My friend, for all of my life I was taught that God was a trinity, and I believed it. I taught it in sabbath school classes and from the pulpit. When I heard the message that the trinity was false, I resisted it and would not listen to any message about it. I tried to prove the trinity from the Bible but found the references from the church to be vague and without a clear "thus sayeth the Lord".
When I found out that Ellen White was not a trinitarian, I began to really study and listen to the messages presented from those who were teaching the truth about God message. Over the course of a few days, I was convicted in my heart that this message was true. When I did a flood of light come into my heart. Old passages in the Scriptures that did not make sense or were obscure, became clear and made so much sense. My relationship to Christ grew closer, for I found that the Comforter was the Spirit of Jesus given to us by the Father. The stumbling block that prevented me from entering into this closer relationship was the trinity. Once removed my understanding of the Scriptures grew and my love for God has grown with it.
My friend, if you would like to grow in your relationship with Jesus, the true Son of God, look away from the trinity and unto the One true God through His Son Jesus Christ today. You will be richly blessed.
