The Past Recorded In The Bible Is Also For Our Time

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White

The Past Recorded In The Bible Is Also For Our Time
Today's Text:
Not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven. 1 Peter 1:12
The Message:

Never are we absent from the mind of God. God is our joy and our salvation. Each of the ancient prophets spoke less for their own time than for ours, so that their prophesying is in force for us. [First 1 Corinthians 10:11 and above text quoted.] The Bible has been your study book. It is well thus, for it is the true counsel of God, and it is the conductor of all the holy influences that the world has contained since its creation. We have the encouraging record that Enoch walked with God. If Enoch walked with God in that degenerate age just prior to the destruction of the world by a flood, we are to receive courage and be stimulated with his example that we need not be contaminated with the world, but amid all its corrupting influences and tendencies we may walk with God. We may have the mind of Christ.

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, was ever prophesying the coming of the Lord. This great event had been revealed to him in vision. Abel, though dead, is ever speaking of the blood of Christ, which alone can make our offerings and gifts perfect. The Bible has accumulated and bound up together its treasures for this last generation. All the great events and solemn transactions of Old Testament history have been, and are, repeating themselves in the church in these last days. There is Moses still speaking, teaching self-renunciation by wishing himself blotted from the book of life for his people so that they might be saved. David is leading the intercession of the church for the salvation of souls to the ends of the earth. The prophets are still testifying of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. There the whole accumulated truths are presented in force to us, that we may profit by their teachings. We are under the influence of the whole.

What manner of persons ought we to be to whom all this rich light of inheritance has been given? Concentrating all the influence of the past with new and increased light of the present, accrued power is given to all who will follow the light. Their faith will increase and be brought into exercise at the present time, awakening an energy and an intensely increased earnestness, and thorough dependence upon God for His power to replenish the world and send the light of the Sun of Righteousness to the ends of the earth. God has enriched the world in these last days proportionately with the increase of ungodliness if His people will only lay hold of His priceless gift and bind up their every interest with Him.-Letter 74a, 1897.
*Note: I have added in the parts that were left out by the compilers for what ever reason, that the true sentiment of the author may be seen.  These parts are underlined.
Commentary:

My friend, we are living at the very end of time.  The light that was given to the people of God in the past has been accumulated and concentrated for us in these last days.  The world has become more and more wicked and the light of truth is given in brighter and brighter rays that the people of God may receive the light that they need to warn the world of the soon coming of Jesus.

The church in the time of Jesus first coming were not prepared for His coming because they had misapplied the prophecies and were not looking for the Lamb of God to come and die for their sins.   In fact they were so blinded by their perverted doctrine that they lost sight of the fact that they were sinners.  They believed that they were the chosen people because they had been given the law.  They supposed that their righteousness was sufficient to warrant them heaven and thus did not need a personal Savior.  Yet they did need a savior from the Roman oppression that they were under.

As in the days of Christ so too is it in these last days.  The Seventh-day Adventist church has been given the greatest amount of light that has ever been given to man, yet today they are as unprepared for the second coming of Christ as were the Jews for the first.  The condition of the church today is presented in the Laodicean church of Revelation 3.  Like the Jews of old, they think that they are the chose people of God and are better then those in the world.  But the message to them is "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:" (Revelation 3:17).

Their spiritual condition before God is sickening to Him for He says "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." (Revelation 3:16).  His counsel to them shows the sources of their condition before Him.  He says "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see." (Revelation 3:18).  They think they have the righteousness of Christ but in fact they have a false righteousness and are blind to their need.

By the churches adoption of the trinity it has forsaken the One true God and His Son Jesus Christ.  As such they have a false experience of righteousness by faith, and because the trinity has the outward form of God they are blind to their true condition before Him.  This next verse gives evidence that this is true, saying "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:19).  Jesus, who is supposed to be at the heart of the church is depicted as on the outside seeking to gain entrance.  He is on the outside because we have forsaken Him for the false god of the trinity.

My friend, we are living in the very last days of earths history.  Jesus is soon to end His ministry in the heavenly sanctuary above and when He does the end will come.  If we are worshiping God in the form of the trinity we are not worshiping God but are worshiping the god of Babylon, and when the mark of the beast is implemented we will as readily receive its mark as those who worship on Sunday.

Now is the time for us to heed the warning given to the church.  Now is the time for us to seek after the One true God through His Son Jesus Christ that we may be saved.

God bless,

Is the SDA church the Remnant?
Is the SDA church the Remnant?
Many SDA pastors, preachers and members are right now declaring the SDA church is the remnant church. But is that possible? Can they be BOTH the 9th AND 11th hour church prophecy speaks of? Or are they lying to try and confuse the masses? See what the Bible says!

The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White The Controversy Between Christ and Satan is Ended Today's Text: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4 The Message:      The wicked receive their recompense in the earth. [Proverbs 11:31] . All are punished "according to their deeds." The Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Book of Daniel Now Unsealed for Study Today's Text: But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4 The Message:      There is need of a much closer study of the Word of God; especially should Daniel and the Revelation have attention as never before in the history of our work. We may have less to say in some lines, in regard to the Roman power and the papacy, but we should call attention to what the prophets and apostles have written under the inspiration of the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit has so shaped matters, both in the giving of the prophecy and in the events portrayed, as to teach that the human agent is to be kept out of sight, hid in Christ, and the Lord God of heaven ...

Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door

Christ Triumphant - A Devotional by E.G. White Christ is Knocking at Your Hearts Door Today's Text: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Hebrews 2:9 The Message:      The stress of great temptation is already upon us. We are now to unite with one another in doing medical missionary work, even the work that Christ did when on this earth. We are to be one in Christ. Thus we show our faithfulness to God, to our Redeemer, and to all who are born into His kingdom.  Among the people of God there is to be no dissension, no controversy, no warfare against one another. The forces of righteousness are to be a unit in their conflict with evil. All the strength of God's...
